Ranakpur temples are dedicated to the Jain tiranthkar Aadinatha. It is said that these temples were built by a Jain businessman Seth Dharna sah and Rana kumbha who was the emperor of the Merwar state during mid 14th century. This place is named as Ranakpur as influenced by the name of Rana Kumbha

The construction work of these temples is said to believed to be continued for almost fifty years and it is said that it took a total of 99 lakh rupees of that time to complete these temples.
